... I agree wholeheartedly with Dennis MacShane's diatribe against the sell-off of council housing (and the failure to build any more) in particular, and Home-Owner-Ism in general, in Sunday's Observer. He concludes thusly:

This is the most selfish generation of homeowners in British history. Until we confront our own selfishness, there will continue to be huge housing shortages, especially for young and less-affluent citizens.

Taking on selfishness, the Thatcherite shibboleth of right-to-buy, and the green lobby is a mammoth task for any party. Will it be too much for Cameron? And will any future Labour leader admit the last government had no social housing policy that was worthy of the name?

Can't add much to that.

"Brothel users should give DNA"

Dennis MacShane MP (Lab, Rotherham) is, as previously mentioned, an evil piece of shit.

He wants to make it illegal for men to visit prostitutes and at the same time is asking men who visit brothels to give DNA samples (to whom, exactly?). Er, so, by giving a DNA sample, you are confessing to a crime? Not really much motivation to do so.

Yes, it is probably true that when a woman who works as a prostitute is murdered, it is usually by a man who visits prostitutes and/or who knows her - but of course it is women who 'work the streets' who are most at risk from these lunatics. As there is a clear link between the illegality of drugs and prostitution, the solution must be to legalise both. Then women who really need the money can work a shift in a relatively safe brothel, where of course the use of condoms would be strictly enforced, bingo, there's your DNA sample, all 10cc of it.

Denis MacShane MP (Lab, Rotherham) is a despicable idiot

He recently suggested that men paying women for sex should be made illegal, but it appears not men paying men, women paying men or women paying women (if such a thing exists).

He was suitably derided by the bloggertarians, but what occurs to me is, a lot of the cards in 'phone boxes advertise the services of 'pre-op transexuals'. I assume that this means 'a woman with a dick' rather than 'a man with no dick'. So on which side of the line do these people fall? Can they be paid or not?
