* Retailer said it could harm reputation with customers who assume it is 'approved'
* Rihanna said she had bought licence for image - downloaded from the Internet

* Rihanna says she intends to appeal and finds ruling 'perplexing'
Clothing giant Topshop today won a High Court fight with pop superstar Rihanna for wearing an T-shirt with their logo on it in a case that could be worth £3million.
The store claimed the ‘unendorsed’ T-shirt with a photograph of one of their stores with the logo clearly visible may have damaged their image because customers could have thought it was genuine merchandise.
Arcadia Group Brands Ltd, who sued under the trading name Topshop, claimed they are is entitled to damages from the Barbadian star, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, over the unauthorised use of the image.
Rihanna disputed their claim but Judge Mr Justice Birss ruled in their favour today after a hearing in London, but will decide on damages at a later date.

Health Scare Story Du Jour
The Daily Mail on top form:
A trendy hairstyle favoured by celebrities such as Justin Bieber*, Rihanna and Frankie Sandford could be damaging the eyesight of youngsters who copy them, an optometrist has claimed.
He warned those with the heavy side fringes that fall to one side of the face could develop ‘lazy eye’. Andrew Hogan said the fashion for asymmetrical haircuts started by ‘emo’, or ‘emotional rock’, musicians was to blame.
* Justin Bieber had a weird assymetric hairstyle for a year or two (which he has long abandoned anyway) but his fringe was nowhere near long enough to obscure his vision on one side; Rihanna changes her hairstyle daily, and to the extent she does lopsided fringe, she seems to do it on alternate sides; Frankie Sanford's fringe definitely hangs down perilously close to her right eye, but not actually over it all the time.
So epic fail on the old pop music general knowledge. Hopefully he knows more about eye care than about pop stars' hairstyles.

Battleship
I took my little lad and one of my big lads to see this film.
As per usual, all those film reviews which gave it one or two stars turned out to be very reliable - the film was AWESOME.
It was about 50% Transformers, 30% Independence Day, and 5% Mars Attacks. They filmed it on the scene of Pearl Harbour, the aliens borrowed the protective shield from the last Harry Potter film and/or War Of The Worlds, the injured veteran was using Gary Sinise's artificial legs from Forrest Gump and to round things off the old guys from the Crimson Permanent Assurance hi-jacked their own ship and saved the day, one of whom was a foul mouthed old yob like the butler in Arthur.
The list goes on: there was a football match between sworn enemies like Escape to Victory, the blonde love interest was basically Kelly McGillis out of Top Gun, it had a female American popstar (Rihanna) in it like Austin Powers in Goldmember (which had Beyoncé), and like Iron Man 2, the soundtrack had two songs by AC/DC, only they used two good ones, "Hard as a rock" and "Thunderstruck".
And so on and so forth. we're still trying to work out which film the two geeks on the mountain were from, Wayne's World, perhaps? Funniest of all is one of the key scenes was towards the end where they are firing at random using grid co-ordinates, like in the good old fashioned game "Battleships" (upon which the Hasbro game is based and in turn on which the film is loosely based).

Cheesy 1980s Style Guitar Solo Of The Week
The solo starts at 3 minutes 20 second into this not-particularly-good-but-OK-song by Rihanna. The guitarist doodles along aimlessly for the rest of the song and does a gloriously cheesy power-chord-to-fade, but then changes his mind and just chops it off. It's the sort of song that is crying out for a truck driver's gear change, actually.

Where's my f***ing umbrella?
I took the bloody thing to work last Thursday and left it by the filing cabinets to dry. I couldn't find the bastard thing at home over the weekend and it's nowhere to be found at work either. F***!
If anybody knows where it is, please leave a comment.
£3-sodding-99 that umbrella cost me.
