"US military causes outrage by invading Vietnam using harrowing audio recording 'Crazy in love' from 2003"

From The Daily Mail:

There are a lot of Vietnamese men and women who are angry with Beyonce.

Yesterday's US-backed invasion of Indo-China features audio taken her 2003 smash hit 'Crazy in love', recorded at the time that overweight raptard Jay-Z first started fancying the leggy Texan in 2003.

"Guerilla fighters here looking very carefully at the situation. Obviously a major malfunction. We preferred Hendrix and all the stuff they were listing to last time we kicked their arses," a VietCong public affairs official said as wreckage fell towards Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) on live TV.

But on Monday the 32-year-old defended the Army's use of the song in a statement to ABC News:

"The song was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones."

The Halo singer added the reference should "remind people that crazy things happen... just because somebody is carpet bombing you doesn't mean they don't love you deep down."

She also said, "My heart goes out to the families of those killed in the first wave of the invasion."

Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond T Odierno added: "The songwriters allowed us to use the audio in tribute to the unselfish work of the military-industrial bloc with hope that they will never be forgotten."

"Vietnam Buffalo Rampage Injures 10 People"

Spotted by Pavlov's Cat at The Huffington Post.

Any article which starts a paragraph with "The young male buffalo, normally a docile species used to plow rice fields..." is clearly too good to just cut and paste in full, so you'll have to toddle over to the HP to read it for yourselves.

Economic illiterate of the day (2)

Q: The price of commodity X has trebled. Your country, a developing country, is one of the world's largest producers/exporters of that commodity. What do you do:

A: Encourage your farmers to make as much Commodity X as they can while the sun shines and to export as much as possible, boosting your country's balance of payments and enriching your country?

B: Prohibit exports?

Follow-up Q: You're the Prime Minister of a rich Western country, who wants to help the developing world. The price that those countries can charge for their exports trebles. Do you:

A: Point out that these price movements will increase the incomes of those developing countries relative to rich, Western countries, and obviate the need for aid payments?

B: Wring your hands and say that "the spiraling prices threaten to plunge millions back into poverty and reverse progress on alleviating misery in the developing world"? (hint: see first link above).

Follow-up, follow-up Q: You've studied Politics, Philosophy & Economics at a top British university, and you are hoping to become Prime Minister of a rich, Western country. Do you:

A: Remember that you came out worst in the previous round of this competition and point out that consumption and spending patterns will change to adapt to new price levels, crudely paraphrased thusly: claim that people in the West will need to eat less meat -- and consume, or waste, less food in general. (hint: see first link above)?
