The Bournville Supremacy

From Wiki and Wiki:

At the beginning of The Bournville Supremacy, the Cadbury brothers, George and Richard, establish Bournville, near Birmingham.

Jason has recovered from most of his mental and physical injuries and chooses to transfer to this new site in order to teach Asian studies under his real name of David Webb.

Like all Cadburys employees, he is provided with improved living conditions and a country environment that he can enjoy and is living happily on campus with Marie. He is getting regular psychological tests from his doctor, Morris Panov – a far cry from the busy, smoky city centre of Birmingham.

Meanwhile, high-ranking US officials discuss an increasingly alarming situation in the People's Republic of China, where a popular Communist provides education in the form of a compulsory academic course and workers are given the opportunity to complete commercial or technical training.

The CIA and the Cadburys are planning a hostile takeover of that country, using the provision of sports facilities and athletic and cultural clubs, as well as social events such as summer parties. They decide to use Webb, a Quaker, to preach Christian values and kill the Chinese official, but know of his mistrust of the US government.

Aware of Webb's respectability, thrift and sobriety due to the loss of his first wife and children in Vietnam, they hatch a plan to impose hegemony through rituals such as gift giving between employer and employee.

They also establish work councils, abduct Marie and throw Webb back into the default state under which he operated for the Women's Works Council and supported the trade union ‘Medusa’.

"Are your children playing with Lucifer's testicles?"

Emailed in by Bob E who got it via here who traced it back to the source here:

Are Your Children Playing With Lucifer's Testicles? is a Bible based book for Christian parents who by lack of faith can't afford to send their children to a decent Christian school. Their precious youngsters are infected by the secular filth and lies being taught by unsaved teachers in America's public school system.

The book teaches parents how to easily explain to their children that Easter (as it is celebrated by the Unsaved) has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ but is actually a holiday celebrating lewd and sexually explicit pagan rituals of fertility. "It's not that difficult to understand," says Author/Creation Scientist, Dr. Daniel Cameroon. "In the old days, deluded pagans would gather round and hump like bunnies on Easter Sunday because they thought it would make their tomatoes grow faster."

NIMBY Fun

From the Clitheroe* Advertiser & Times:

"WE don't want any houses built in our village" – that is the loud and clear message from angry Whalley residents. Concerned villagers determined to stop any proposals for new and "affordable" housing in Whalley packed a public meeting in such numbers that dozens could not get in...

The still small voice of calm appears to the local vicar:

... the Rev. Gillian Dyer**, who is also a governor at Whalley Primary commented: "This year is the first year the school actually had to turn two children away, so, yes, there is an issue here and one primary school will not suffice. If this Core Strategy plan is to cover 20 years, what is going to happen when children grow older and are facing the prospect of moving out of the area because they cannot afford to buy a house in the village?"

"What this government really wants to do is bring back rationing"

Bayard left this comment on an earlier post:

... what this government really wants to do (and may yet) is bring back rationing.

??? There's no 'and may yet' about it. From an article in the FT last week:

Food agency declares war on dietary nasties

... as Britons indulge in Easter eggs and other sugary and fatty treats, the government is increasingly concerned about long-term health problems associated with over-eating. In a bid to tackle rising obesity and ill-health caused by poor diet, which costs the NHS £7bn a year, the Food Standards Agency has now issued a mandate for change...

It is the second assault on the food industry in recent years. The FSA has already run a salt reduction campaign, viewed by campaigners as a success after salt intake dropped by 10 per cent nationwide in 2008 – only two years after the campaign was launched... “Salt came first and the reduction in salt is easier because you can do it by stealth,” he says. “You can also retrain taste buds to accept less salt. But saturated fats are much harder to do.”

Food Standards Agency recommendations:
* Chocolate: Cut the saturated fat level in some confectionery (bars with fillings) by at least10 per cent.
* Soft drinks: Those containing added sugar should be made readily available in single portion sizes of 250ml.
* Cakes and biscuits: Cut the saturated fat in plain sweet and savoury biscuits, and plain cakes by at least 10 per cent; 5 per cent in non-plain biscuits and cakes.
* Portion size: Smaller single portion sizes should be more easily available for chocolate and confectionery...

Chocolate is the new drinking is the new smoking

From the BBC, without any hint of irony:

A Scottish GP has called for chocolate to be taxed in the same way as alcohol and cigarettes to tackle increasing levels of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Dr David Walker, a GP in Lanarkshire, said many people eat their entire daily calorie requirement in chocolate, on top of their normal meals. The doctor said chocolate used to be seen as a "treat" but had now become a harmful addiction for some.

I suppose there's no point asking where this will end, because it will never end. The bansturbators are drunk on power and there is no stopping them.
