Man's best friend? Maybe not...

Spotted by JuliaM at the BBC:

A cow injured two dog owners whose pets chased the animal into a river in Cornwall, police have said. The owners had been trying to recapture and restrain the dogs near Penpol Creek on the River Gannel, near Newquay.

Police said the cow was not injured in the chase on Saturday and have warned owners to keep dogs under control. Both owners were taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital with minor injuries...

The dogs were not found to be dangerous breeds and have been returned to their owners.

Clever! The dogs can blame it on the cow and the cow can blame it on the dogs, but to me that looks as if a few animals took the co-ordinated decision to injure some humans, so the cows are guilty of GBH and the dogs are guilty of incitement.

You said you weren't doing any more of those.

JH, no I said I wasn't doing any more monthly round-ups, which takes a couple of hours every month, I will continue posting stories about individual animal attacks.

Yes, many walkers don't realise the cows are trying to recruit their dogs.

AKH, they recruited them long ago. I've covered plenty of these stories, and the dog concerned more or less never gets injured. It's as if Germany and Austria organised that assassination in Sarajevo in 1914, then invaded Russia but left Serbia in peace.

KS, on the assumption that you are being sarcastic, it is a simple fact that dogs + cows = attacks. Click the 'cows' label for endless examples of this.

If you are not being sarcastic, then I hope you all recover soon.

No sarcasm...Thank you for your well wishes. Will now be another reader of your blogs.

KS, thanks for clarification. It must have been terrifying, and while I do these cow posts a bit tongue in cheek, let's not gloss over the fact the dozens of people get killed by cattle each year.
