Fakecharity of the day

From the comments to an earlier post:
-----------------------------
DP: When minicab licencing was being introduced following pressure from the Suzy Lamplugh Trust ... black cabbies complained that it was unfair that minicabs would be licenced.

JM: What have minicabs got to do with Suzy Lamplugh?

-----------------------------
I did a quick Google to try and answer JM's question. Hmm. The Trust's accounts at the Charities Commission website shows they receive the bulk of their income, about £700,000 from lectures and training, but don't mention who their clients are, so let's try their website. Ah! Here we go...

Examples of workplace personal safety consultancy undertaker by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust include:
- Advising a London borough on the development of an appropriate "Violence in the Workplace" policy for all employees.
- Assisting a Midlands NHS Trust with a risk assessment for community health workers.
- Facilitating focus groups, compiling reports and delivering a company wide training programme for a national public transport provider.
- Devising an effective way for managers of a national chain of restaurants* to cascade personal safety information to their team members.
- Creating a tailored risk management guidance for a charity working with homeless people in an inner city area.

Righty-ho.

* This client is probably private sector, but "cascading personal safety information"? Jesus wept. That sounds like "box ticking to keep the local Elfin Safety mafia off your back" to me.

Please reassure me that the Lifeboats are still a proper charity.
