The greatest cancellation of a standing order ever

The first Mrs W took our children abroad back in 1994 (it wasn't exactly out of the blue, but not the sort of behaviour a father would have got away with).

German law (f*** knows why that applied, seeing as we were living in England prior to separation, but hey) requires that the father pays the mother maintenance as long as the children are under 18, so being a nice chap, I have paid EUR 605.11 every month ever since (it was slightly less for the first couple of years).

May 2009, when the younger one turns 18, seemed a long way away back in 1994, but it's finally arrived ...

Excellent.

So that leaves a bit more in your pocket for fiscal recovery?

This one has me a bit puzzled. I'll try to nut it out later.

HNL, yes.

JH, I paid the maintenance by Standing Order.

Congratulations MW. Toys 'R' Us are doing an outdoor heated jaccuzzi for £200 if you feel like investing for the summer.

I still can't fathom why they would sell that, but hey.

Well my oldest is 26 and I'm still paying for him, so whoopy-you-know-what to you.

But also, I am left wondering.

This post has an air of "Thank God THAT'S over" about it.

Are they not, in fact, your children?

What gives?

Anon, I don't paying for them, I just mind paying to her. With a normal kidnap, when you pay up, you get your children back at least, if you see what I mean.

I am very proud of you for being so responsible about your child support payments. I hope you do something very nice for yourself with some of the money you'll be accumulating now. Happy Birthday to your 18 year old btw.
