Police dog fires gun at house

From The Daily Mail (where else?):

Ivan the police dog startled himself when he recovered a stolen gun from the snow - and also managed to fire it. Ivan accidentally pulled the trigger with his paw, firing the loaded semi-automatic pistol into a family home.

Police had sent German Shepherd Ivan to investigate the snow at 2am on Sunday after an officer on patrol heard three gunshots in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and saw a vehicle speed away.

Serves them right for using a German one.

Victimhood Poker

TDK alerts me to this long-ish article (by Mark Steyn, so take it with a pinch of salt) about the excellent standards of Victimhood Poker being played over in Canada (in one semi-final, a gay B&B owner who was allergic to dogs had to play against a potential guest who was blind and had a guide dog - edge of the seat stuff!!)

I liked this bit best:

... in Britain, an educational establishment gung-ho about forcing the kindergartners of evangelical Christians to be taught the joys of same-sex marriage crumbled in nothing flat when Muslim parents in Bristol objected. If it's a choice between "Heather Has Two Mommies" or "Heather Has Four Mommies And A Big Bearded Daddy Who Wants To Marry Her Off To A Cousin Back In Pakistan", bet on the latter.

"Cows force man and dog into river"

This time, it's personal:

Thames Valley Police said an officer with cow herding experience advised the man about how to disperse the animals. He was told to be stern, walk out of the river waving his arms and if possible to do so while holding a stick. He then met police officers waiting for him at the Swan Hotel, Radcot, who checked he was all right.

That's proper police work for you, sitting in a pub betting on whether the man will make it or not.

Thanks to Pavlov's Cat and JuliaM for tip-off.

"Police apologise over offensive puppy ad"

Do these miserable buggers realise that the police are sometimes referred to as "pigs"?
