Am I not in tune with the Zeitgeist?

Tonight I have decided to sit in the company of my lady wife whilst she indulges herself with the x-Factor.

Please tell me that I am not alone in considering it egregious tripe?

Update @ 20:25.

That's it.  I can't take any more. I am off to bed.

I'm astonished you lasted that long!

In our house she watches three or four hours of Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend. It always seems to be on at mealtimes and we (we = me and the kids) are not allowed to talk or make jokes while it's on.

All very stressful.

It's more than men just don't like this stuff. They get huge viewing figures, but it's mostly women and suffering husbands.

(I have a general problem of just how much TV is now produced with women in mind, how the schedules are full of soap operas, cookery shows, reality TV, magazine shows and hospital dramas). I'm not sure my Mrs would agree, but if I could, I'd stop paying the TV tax tomorrow.

It is tripe. Mine likes Strictly Come Dancing so at 8 I went to the usual pub quiz with my brother and a great old friend.

I'm surprised that anyone with a decent broadband connection bothers to have a TV licence these days. With iPlayer et al, you can watch what you want to watch when you want to watch it and not pay a penny extra.
