It's quite simple, I worked this out by trial and error.
Before you start running, you take a very deep breath. Then you set off and hold in that air for as long as you possibly can, ten seconds is good, twenty is better etc until you can't hold it any longer; then you breathe out as slowly as you can possibly bear. Then be careful to breathe as shallowly as possible for another half a minute or a minute and after that you'll be fine.

Quit smoking? You know it a only slave drug.
is there no limit to your versatility, Wadsworth ?!
may we learn your cure for hangovers ?
and how do you avoid mad cows when running or jogging ?
RS, fail, even non-smokers can get a stitch.
ND, there are plenty of limits, it was a quiet news day so I thought I'd post it. Everybody has their own hangover cure, I've nothing new to add to that topic. You avoid mad cows by not going jogging, or at least not anywhere near cows.
If you get a stitch whilst running simply lean into the affected part and it very quickly goes. I have found it very effective.
