O/T but did you see Ferguson blame the decline of European protestantism and abandonment of religion on the rise of Freud.

He seems to have overlooked two devastating world wars that left millions dead and a catastrophic wipe out recession.

Enough to make anyone question the Almighty.

BQ, yes. I think is programme was designed to 'stimulate debate' rather than be seriouso i.e. he based the whole thing on two presumably true facts which are not necessarily correlated:

1. 'The USA used to do really well and is mainly Protestant'

2. 'PR China seems to be doing well and has a small but increasing number of Protestants'

and then based the rest of the programme on this. I was a bit disappointed, really. What about Japan? They used to do really well and is allegedly a very atheist country.

I doubt whether Freud is responsible for any of this. Or that other guy he blamed.
