I think because it makes him look like a wuss and a mummy's boy and that doesn't reflect well on the army. Initially I thought it would be some anti-exploitation bullshit, but it seems not.

Because from this picture you cannot see where he 'shoved' his rifle, 500 rounds of ammunition and three RPG grenades!

B, oh, she is being exploited by the system, but that's down to the crap economic policies of Philipines, Malaysia and Thailand and the superior one in Singapore.

Anon, I take it they leave those at the barracks. That kit bag is just his lap top, spare clothes, cuddly toys etc.

M, only to the extent that we are all "exploited by the system". There was no work at home in the Phillipines, so she gets a job that is poorly paid (by our standards) in Singapore. The only difference from a unemployed person from Barnsley, say, travelling to London to get a poorly paid job (by London standards) is that the Barnsleyite wouldn't starve if they remained in Barnsley.
