What am I missing?
D, it looks as if the house is built on stilts - the front triangle of bricks on the garage turns into the underside of the first floor of the house.
It's on a slope, I presume - do you suppose it's got a sort of half-basement?
P.S. How come the Dutch can build excellent basements in their drained swamp of a country, and we can't build decent basements anywhere?
Oh I see it now - after looking at all the hoose pics.
D, it is a mystery to me why English houses so seldom have cellars. But English houses are the smallest, worst built and most expensive in Europe, so that's hardly a surprise.
"do you suppose it's got a sort of half-basement?"
It's much more likely just to have a large void under the floor making the ground floor rooms hard to heat.
The price. The price !
Over-developed monstrosity.
