From the steady decrease of the rotational velocity of the Earth that set in in Dec. 2003, it can reliably be concluded that the mean Earth temperature will decrease again in 2010 for the duration of three decades as it did from 1872 to 1913 and from 1942 to 1972.
Like a proper scientist, he is looking forward to people trying to prove him wrong.
* Or "throws down the gauntlet" or "sounds the battle charge", or some other similarly gung-ho expression.

Dunno what all the fuss is about. I covered some of these variables (at least those that are comprehensible) in my ten variable formula (which I can't be arsed to to work out, tell you the truth)And he does n't mention volcanoes,the jetstream etc which I pitched into the mix out of sheer joie de vie.
Please explain the Needle of Honor of German Aeronautics which this geezer has received.Is this a literal translation of something colloquial?It sounds very covetable but why is it an honour to get the needle?

HAS, that stumped me as well.
VFTS, DBC "needle of honour" may sound silly to English ears, but you must remember that Germans were very sensitive about medals and ranks after the unpleasantess in the middle of last century.
So instead of giving actual medals, they just get a bit of ribbon and a needle to pin it to their lapel. The German expression is "Ehrennadel" and Dr L was a recipient thereof in 2000.
Re DSBC Reed and Yourself - I reckon the Needle of Honor is bang on the money. If the good professors findings 'needle' warmists so much the better.
The whole CO2 shemozzle is "catch-all science". All the little bits of error in your model are lumped together and blamed on one innocuous effect.
Been there, done it. But not at a cost of trillions of dolars.
