"More primary maths experts needed"

The problem is, as a result of the long term decline in standards, they have no idea how many.

Why an 'expert' to teach primary maths?
If you have ten fingers can you not just build on that?
Or must everything hav3 an electronic machine these days.

Its not often I agree with any politician, let alone a Labour minister, but I'm with Jim on this one:

"That view was endorsed by schools minister Jim Knight: "Why is it that this is one of the few countries where it is acceptable, fashionable even, to declare that you are useless at maths? "

It makes me cringe when I hear MP's and celebs almost bragging about their ignorance at maths.

I was also a bit surprised to see that the maths entry level to teacher training is a C at GCSE. Surely we need numerate teachers no matter what they are teaching?
