Why an 'expert' to teach primary maths?
If you have ten fingers can you not just build on that?

Its not often I agree with any politician, let alone a Labour minister, but I'm with Jim on this one:
"That view was endorsed by schools minister Jim Knight: "Why is it that this is one of the few countries where it is acceptable, fashionable even, to declare that you are useless at maths? "
It makes me cringe when I hear MP's and celebs almost bragging about their ignorance at maths.
I was also a bit surprised to see that the maths entry level to teacher training is a C at GCSE. Surely we need numerate teachers no matter what they are teaching?
