I have often light-heartedly referred to global cooling in my posts, which, if it were a realistic possibility, would scare me a heck of a lot more than the opposite.

Mark,
That's a good point. Looking back to the scare stories of the '70s when everyone was predicting a mini ice age the consequences were a damned site scarier than those of global warming.
Whilst I think this is a good piece any piece of journalism or reporting that makes statements like this "Australia experienced the coldest June ever" loses credibility, be it for or against AGW.
Seriously, has Earth tilted slightly?
Warming? Cooling? I'm still hiding in my basement from those Africanised bees that are coming our way. And birdflu.
What a good article.I do think however than given the economic and population growth of the last century it would be suprisng if there was no effect...
The main effect is deforestation, but it's too hard to deal with. It's easier to push something that is near impossible to measure and therefore (they hoped) disprove.
If I meet someone who expresses that their belief in MMGW is only down to the "consensus", I lend them my DVD copy of "The Great Global Warming Swindle" and they becomes fervent disavowers of MMGW.
Early on, I assumed that MMGW was real, because surely all them scientists must be right. Then I started to listen more carefully.
