From the BBC:
It may not be Covid, but it is linked to what's happened in the past 18 months.
"We've actually been seeing a rise in the number of coughs and colds and viral infections," says Dr Philippa Kaye, a GP based in London.
She says the numbers have been as high as you'd see in a normal winter and the main reason is because of the easing of coronavirus restrictions.
"We are mixing in a way that we haven't been mixing over the past 18 months. During those first lockdowns, we saw numbers of other [non-Covid] infections fall. We think that that was primarily due to the restrictions on meeting up."
As per usual, I have succumbed to this and have felt like crap for the past fortnight, hence very sporadic posting (and I haven't managed to finish a song for a fortnight either), I don't have the energy for that. It's not the worst cold I've ever had, but it just drags on and on and on.
Luckily, the rest of my household seems to be immune, that's a small blessing. Maybe it's because they got out more during the lockdown periods and so their resistance to colds and 'flu didn't wane as much as mine did.

. . . and nothing to do with the poisoned masks Joe Muggins has been wearing for the best part of a year?
DCB, unlikely. I packed in wearing a mask on Freedom Day, which was three months ago.
As it's the BBC, your cold is undoubtedly continuing to bug you because of Brexit!
There will soon be the Polish Variant, from all those HGV drivers coming back to move stuff for Tesco, so best avoid that particular grocer for a while!
Hope you feel better soon though, it's the wrong time of year to get one...
S, not Brexit, it's because of climate change.
Get well soon.
And Covid 19 IS 'a cold'. You probably have covid 19 2.0. But for God's sake don't tell anyone else. And don't let any 'expert' near you 'cos if you do 'they'll' use it as an excuse to shut us all down again. "It's a New Strain! You're all going to die!" Blah blah blah.
L, I had to do a Covid test yesterday (long story, turned out to be unnecessary) and it showed negative. So that's good.
Our son recently recovered from a bad cold which he says was far worse than Covid which he had a while back - confirmed by two positive tests.
AKH, I'm glad to hear he recovered in the end.
The cold I've got now is not as bad as my Covid last year (I'm an oldie and we get it worse than your son) what's annoying is that it drags on and on and on.
