The three notes I can pick out are A#, C and D. If anybody has more info or background, I'd love to know it!

Back in the day, the bassist in our band would tune his guitar by ringing a non exiting number so as to get the "number unobtainable" sound. IIRC it was a "G"

SM, you've jogged my memory now. I remember a guitarist in Germany who would pick up the phone and listen to the dialling tone, which I think was 440A.
The tills at Sainsbury's play the tune of Strangers in the night.
Din, you'd need an A as well for that, I can only hear A#, C and D.
Why did you say A# rather than (the far more commonly used) B-flat?
GC, good question, I just do.
