President Erdogan does glorious mixed metaphors.

He's the gift that keeps on giving.

From the BBC:

Mr Erdogan told a news conference in the Turkish capital, Ankara: "You [the USA] act on one side as a strategic partner, but on the other, you fire bullets into the foot of your strategic partner. We are together in Nato and then you seek to stab your strategic partner in the back."

You shoot yourself in the foot, not the other person. And clearly Trump hasn't stabbed them in the back, he has stabbed them quite openly in the face.

Buying weapons off the Russians, like Turkey has started doing is pretty sneaky, that is more akin to a stab in the back. And if he thinks he can defend the Turkish currency against a determined onslaught, he's got another think coming.

I'm not sure its a bad idea from their point of view. Germany will not upgrade the Leopard II for Turkey. Lots of blown turrets all over the net (just like Saudi, American M1's). Amazing what goat herders and Marxist scan do if they put their minds to it. Anyway, just who was behind the Turkish military coup? Never did find out for sure.

As for money. If only there was a macro theory that explained what happens if a country issues debt in a foreign currency, the folks at home want anything other than domestic currency, and nobody pays tax.

But most importantly, from our 'wealth creating perspective', didn't spot any MailExpress expert, ramping the property prices in Istanbul for the BBC.

I say, fill ya boots' In my view, apartments there will hit new Biblical heights for sure when the Americans rename the city a more 'up and coming' 'Constantinople' and build a new embassy in the middle. Will keep my eye on the lira exchage rate and cash in some of my coming, Jerusalem condo gains, ready to buy into this new adventure.

Let me tell you about the Turks as seen by my grandfather (paternal). Our officer went to to take the Turkish officer's surrender and those of his men. As he got close the Turk dropped his hands from behind his head and we saw his revolver. He shot our officer dead. Several lancers tore in to the Turks and killed them all. The wing literally whistled out of the men who were run through.

This here Turkish officer didn't give a flying whatever for his men but was determined to kill a British officer and die doing it. An utter shit. My Grandfather had no shred of pity for the Turks. They were very cruel he told me when I was a boy as he showed me his bullet wound scars. Then there was the time my Grandfather met Lawrence of Arabia. He was sent forward because he spoke Arabic (as well as Welsh and English and they thought TE was an Arab.........
