Readers' Letters Of The Day

Three from The Metro (page 14):

With regard to John Kerry's condemnation of Russia, I wonder how deeply the words 'invading another country on a completely trumped-up pretext' will resonate in such places as Vietnam, Iraq, Grenada and Afghanistan?

MR Williams, Middlesex.

That was my first thought as well.

Lexy, surely the royals should get charged bedroom tax if they don't downsize?

Phil, Berkshire.

Tee hee. And finally:

At a bus stop, a fellow smoker disregards the bin next to us and throws the dwindling ember on the floor. Bad form?

Philip, Birmingham.

Nope. If you throw a fag end into a bin you risk starting a fire, which is incredibly "bad form" I think you'll find.

Invading another country is "bad form", while fag ends in the bin is very good form if they have one of those metal pockets for fag ends.

The correct procedure is to get rid of the lit end and put the rest in the bin/pocket.

Kj, true.

P, that's a bit of a faff, the tax on fags covers clearing up costs about a thousand times over, so let them invest in the proper bins-with-ashtrays or let them shut up.
