S, did anybody say that? Mr P is doing some sort of cunning double or treble bluff, and it is entirely unclear whether he wants Greece to stay in the Euro-zone or not. From the TV coverage of him talking outside the G20 thingy yesterday, it strikes me that he just couldn't care less any more, but that might be all part of his cunning plan, to make people think he doesn't care etc.

As far as Papandreou's gamble, a friend of mine asked me what I thought, and I told him straight out: "It's a stroke of genius and insanity, but he's basically playing high stakes poker with his European counterparts because he knows Greece is screwed either way, so if they go down, let them cut the best possible deal, much better than a 50% haircut."
