Spotted by Julia M in The Daily Mail:
A motorist in Staffordshire who hit a cow which jumped over a fence in front of his car escaped the freak accident with cuts and bruises.
Robert Gould said he is lucky to be alive after his car went careering onto the other side of the road and skidded 80 yards. He was traveling at 60mph at the time and described seeing a 'flying cow'.
The frightened Friesian cow wrote off his Citroen C5 after denting the bonnet and breaking a wheel. Sadly, the cow died at the scene in Leek and had to be removed using a JCB. The 24-year-old said: 'I am now looking out for low-flying cows whenever I am driving.'
Why isn't the headline "Cow killed by speeding motorist"? Why does the perp think it appropriate to make a joke about the whole thing? And then we're surprised when cows keep attacking us?
Bluesky thinking?

I hate it when those cows start flying after the third bottle.
JH, were you drinking at the Cat & Fiddle?
I sympathise with the driver - simply because something similar happened to me many years ago in France.
I was driving fairly slowly approaching a small village along a typical narrowish country lane and came across a car parked properly by the side of the road to allow a youngster to "water the nettles". Just as I passed the car, a beautiful Great Dane leapt out through the rear offside window - straight under my front tyre. I had no chance to stop or avoid it. Naturally I stopped to ask about the condition of the animal, but it was too badly injured to be saved. Fortunately, its owner was a vet who happened to have the right stuff in his bag to put the dog down painlessly. Some minor damage was done to my car's front lights and bodywork which I paid for myself to have repaired.
I still think of that day from time to time and that accident. The vet agreed that it was not my fault and that he had been very careless to have left the window on his car open wide enough for the dog to jump through.
Given that it's pretty close to full moon, yes, I suspect the cow was probably doing a bit of limbering up and practice for a lunar hop. Or not. Sadly,we shall never know the truth.
Still, Mr. Gould is very lucky to be alive.
