Chugger Fun

A young man knocked on my door just now, trying to rustle up donations for some 'initiative' by Friends of the Earth.

"It's a load of rubbish," I replied "They're subsidised by the EU, and I'm against the EU."

"No they're not," he retorted, "They are subsidised by the UK government."

I had a rather pleasant looking young lass at the door last week.

"I don't do fake charity", I said.

"It's not a fake charity", she replied, rather indignantly.

"Are you paid by the hour or via commission?" I asked.

Her face reddened and I think she realised where I was coming from.

I was rung up by them once and was urged to get concerned about disappearance of the ozone layer which was causing global warming. Which goes to show their campaigners are not even briefed about the basic science, because the ozone layer protects against UV and it is too much carbon dioxide that gives rise to excessive greenhouse effect.

Anyhow, it is always a good idea to go easy on the gas, it is good for the bank balance and may be good for the planet though who knows.

You missed out the words falsely claimed.
