Apart from that, the performance went without a hitch.

From The Metro:

West End star David Birrell has been accidentally shot in the face during an onstage duel.

The actor was starring as Colonel Ricci in Stephen Sondheim's Passion when he suffered the injury, thought to have been caused by a fault with the prop gun, which was supposed to fire blanks.

A number of audience members were unaware of the incident, as it occurred during a scene where David's character is shot. He was taken to hospital with a serious eye injury and the musical has been suspended.

I hope he gets well soon - if they ever stage a play about William S Burroughs, he'd be shoo-in for the part of the second Mrs Burroughs.

The reporter seems to think that blanks are totally harmless. Would he like to ask the opinion of Jon-Eric Hexum and Brandon Lee..?

Oh, wait. No-one can, can they?

JuliaM, You are implying that the reporter thinks?

Don't you just hate it when the props don't stick to the script?
