"Tearaway teens escape secure unit on bikes"

From The Metro:

Young offenders Connor Dewhurst, 14, and Sam Thomas, 13, have escaped a secure unit by peddling off during a cycling proficiency test in Manchester...

This country really is going downhill fast (as were the two lads, presumably). The Metro is a mass circulation daily newspaper and they can't even spell 'pedalling' correctly. 'Peddling' means 'selling', FFS.

Perhaps they are drug dealers, and they had a delivery to make?

Leaving aside the bad spelling, I'm surprised that JuliaM didn't pick up on this.

They are what 12/13 years old? In this age of repeated ASBO's and 'Think of the cheeeeldren'
How serious is what they did that warranted a custodial sentence?

I guess pretty bloody serious.

So which fucking idiot gave them bikes?

They might have been peddling after all, as Chuckles says.

UPDATE: They caught one of them seven miles away and the other one has made it into the British 2012 cycling team.
