Somehow I managed to get on The Eden Project's* mailing list, and the special offer on today's selection of Environmentally Friendly And Sustainably Overpriced Tat is a Reclaimed Teak Candle, yours for a modest £39.50 (down from £49.50).
They have a burn time of 40-50 hours, allegedly, and are imported from Indonesia.
Go figure.
* Who are of course a fig leaf for the French nuclear industry.

Most "green" behaviour is about appearance rather than impact. So, having something that looks a bit ethnic gives off the appearance that you care about the planet more than a plastic solar light (despite the plastic solar light actually being far more effective and energy saving).
I hope they imported it from Indonesia on a bike. But then, it wouldn't cost so much if they did, would it?
