There was a merciful respite from taxpayer-funded advertising during the General Election period, and I hadn't noticed any until yesterday, when they broadcast an advertisement telling people to get in touch with pointless quango the Energy Savings Trust.
So much to the Lib-Cons paring back the propaganda budget.

And this morning I heard a radio advert imploring listeners to get their tax credits applications in quickly.
Yup.
Same ol', same ol'.
Just different coloured ties. As predicted.
CR.
OT But have you heard the Alcobeeb today? Talk about anti booze propaganda. On breakfast TV, on Today, on that daft prog before TWAO and then on TWAO. Cripes. I must get a drink and have a sit down.
You have got the glut of public service broadcasting all wrong. There have been a lot of them
because the private sector can't afford adverts. So ITV's fate is tightly entwined with the public sector,as are the fates of many other private sector businesses.Get rid of the public sector ,which is considered very sensible by otherwise quite normal people, and the commercial channels would go out of business (right now;things may change)
P, CR, I saw my a chugger today for the first time in weeks as well.
L, I did that next post :-)
DBC, nope. Broadcasting is an equation with one unknown - revenues. if revenues go down, they can focus on better value productions, cut mega-salaries etc. The costs will be whatever they want them to be.
Be fair, there has been a huuuuuge drop in state advertising. I'm sure the residue is a combination of already paid for / quango that hopes its funding will not disappear / vaguely sensible (tax credits)
Second thoughts, don't be fair ;)
