More free publicity for the BNP

From The Metro:

A resolution to be debated at the National Union of Teachers' (NUT) annual conference in Liverpool claims the BNP poses a threat to community relations.

It calls on the union to "reaffirm its belief" that being a member of an organisation like the BNP "is incompatible with the role of a teacher, or other member of a school staff in a democratic and multi-racial society"...

Ho hum. While not overly keen on having my own children taught by nutters (of whatever ilk and whether they are members of a particular political party or not), I don't really see this as a big issue because of the maths involved:

Total BNP membership: about 12,000.

Total number of teachers in the UK: approx. 500,000 (ten million children, one teacher for twenty children).

We don't know the percentage of BNP members who have teaching qualifications, but let's assume it's the same as the general population, around 1% (it's probably far lower), so there are no more than 120 BNP members who are already teachers or could get a job as a teacher if they wanted, i.e. one in 4,000 teachers might indeed be a BNP member.

There are certainly far more teachers than that who are BNP voters, of course, but either way, they clearly haven't brought our are oh-so-harmonious society to its knees yet, have they?

Surely the point is that ALL teachers should keep their political opinions to themselves and treat ALL children equally - which also means lefties looking after the children of the wealthy with the same concern as they would for the children of the poor?

I suspect that most of the BNP teachers teach PE for some reason.

SF, indeed. But that's not what 'they' mean, is it?

R, true. Which probably explains why all my children have continued the family tradition and consistently scored bottom marks for PE. I give them a pat on the back for every grade A or B they get in proper subjects and a special big hug if they get a D or E in PE.

I have just done the votematch test

Being a believer in the need for nuclear rather than windmills, not supporting the catastrophic warming scam, wanting the promised EU referendum & opposed to unlimited immigration I found UKIP the closest & BNP 2nd. Expect lots of exhortations to vote for leaders on the strength of their smiles or their wives smiles rather than on policy.
