From The BBC:
A mother who abandoned her ... young children to go on a 24-hour drink and drug binge has been given a suspended prison sentence... Richard Bennett, defending Stevenson said [missing words] "There can be no doubt that this young woman was under a great deal of stress... She was depressed because of the break-up of her long-term relationship with the father of the two boys."
Click and highlight to reveal the missing words:
she was a 22-year-old with four young children by three different fathers who had found her life "extremely difficult and distressful".
Emailed to me by Anti-Citizen-One who added "How the lawyer kept a straight face is beyond me."

Yes ... nuff said on that one.
BBC report said "The four-year-old girl had tried to feed the baby by using chairs to climb up to a kitchen cupboard and reach a tin of milk powder."
I couldn't read beyond that point.
Only three different fathers? Why, that makes her a woman of chaste virtue on most council estates!
This seems a case where sentence should be allowed to include sterilisation. I think that would do a lot more good than prison will.
My point was actually, how can you have a long term relationship with 3 fathers 4 kids and be aged 22?
If I'd been the judge I'd have had words with the Lawyer.
Adam, good for her. If that spirit can survive until adulthood, there might just be some hope for us.
