From The Metro: UK must be at heart of Europe - PM.
As an aside, I note that the petition demanding that politicians say "European Union" when they mean "European Union" and "Europe" when they mean "Europe" is not going too well ...

"Mr Brown said he was spearheading demands for a Europe-wide economic growth strategy."
That will have our European friends quaking in their boots.
" La Effecte Jonah , none ? "
Mind you, it would help if you silly Englishes would stop saying "Europe" when you mean the Continent.
dearmie,
On the basis the EU are a pile of sh**s, perhaps that should be inContinent?
B, yup. That's them f***ed.
D, I could split hairs and ask "which Continent"?
Oops, apols to dearieme - inadvertently tried to re-name.
As was said at the time " Severe fog in the English Channel, Continent cut off ".
Nuff said.
Let's give an award to the most pointless petition.
Banned, I think that was before they invented things like radar and the Channel Tunnel.
JH, the petition might be futile (as they just about all are) but it's an important point nonetheless.
The European Court of Human Rights is not an EU organization. It was created by the Council of Europe.
CI, indeedy. They should have checked with the experts before submitting the exact wording!
Nobody loves a pedant (I should know, being one). The problem with Europe, the geographical entity, is that it is not flexible enough. It can't be stretched to include Turkey (certainly not Israel!), or shrunk to exclude Russia. Much better to morph "Europe" into a political term that can be made to mean whatever is politically expedient.
