From The Metro:
A plane from Zimbabwe's national airline collided with five wild pigs on the runway in the capital during takeoff. Transport Minister Nicholas Goche said in a statement Thursday that the Air Zimbabwe plane was headed from Harare to Bulawayo when the crash occurred Tuesday. All 34 people on board were evacuated safely. Goche's statement says the plane was damaged in the crash. The plane's undercarriage collapsed on impact and it veered off the runway, damaging the plane's nose, one engine and the wing.
Now that's what I call imaginative work by those pigs!
They were probably inspired by the water buffalo who derailed a train in Egypt two weeks ago, killing eighteen. Having decided that simply lying down in the road and being hit by a car doesn't really cut any ice in the human-casualty-stakes, they went for maximum carnage this time.

No Mark, those pigs were trying to take off.... pigs might fly and all that.
Terrorist swine.
Mark, that's not a post about cows.
J, and I suppose the donkeys were just trying to hitch a lift?
D, exactly.
JH, I know - I didn't realise that other animals would try and get in on the act this quickly.
I think the action should be taken on Airport Authority.
I once had the pleasure of sitting up front on a C160 flying into Ondangwa airbase (Angolan/SWA border). It was dark by the time we were on final approach and due to risk of attracting RPG fire only switched on the landing lights at the last minute to see a full grown Kudu bull standing in the middle of the runway. Cue much pulling back on the joystick and squeaky sphincters all round.
HC, out of interest, how long ago was that?
