Quite simply superb, MW. Did they find a spoon? :-)
I saw it more as the gas men come to fix the leak.
As I just posted on James Higham's site...
"I have a dream……to live on Sark….forget the feudal system….its lovely.
I have a better dream….where the whole of the U.K. is like Sark….but without the feudal system."
Nice to see our taxes being spent well....its like having 20 fire engines to get a cat down from a tree.

Sark hasn't got a feudal system. The Barclay Bros went to all the trouble of moving to the remaining feudal system in the world, then decided they didn't like it. Go figure, they must have known what they were moving to.
They then spent years in a legal fight whereby democracy was finally imposed over the 400 permanent residents.
The Barclays thought that they would get their placemen in and immediately control the planning and permission system, but Sark being Sark, the vote didn't go their way.
The bruvvers threw an almighty strop and insisted on shutting down some of the businesses they own - I don't know if they relented.
They are truly deeply peculiar - but Sark is lovely.

Oh bugger I stand corrected...and I for once I am glad to be corrected..thanks Woman On A Raft :)
Reminds me of the Tory Party Conference yesterday, the whole conference hall was surrounded by the cops and still they never found a Mancunian inside the conference centre!
400 cops to take one gun, less than half an arrest per adress and less cash than the average MPs expenses fiddle. Value for money ?
Sarkasm.
"I don't know if they relented."
They did:
"It turns out that most of the Barclays' premises quietly reopened within a few weeks..."
Some many man are there in a house. What they find just a spoon.
Maybe the bags of dope were really really heavy, or perhaps the officers hoped to get a little cut for themselves?....
