From This Is Gloucestershire, 11 September 2009:
The incident happened between Tom Long's Post and Box. "The woman was trying to help the calf across the road," [Mark Dawkins] said, "The mother was on the other side. The cow rushed across the road and knocked her over in the process. She was not badly hurt apparently. She fell over and had a few cuts and bruises. You should not really mess about with cattle. She was a bit silly to do so really. The best thing to do is leave it to them."
A bit spiteful on the cow's part you might think, but there's a reason for this...
From This Is Gloucestershire, 29 October 2008:
A calf was left injured in Stroud after a driver "drove at it deliberately" at the weekend. The man is said to have hit the animal on Minchinhampton Common at 8.30am on Sunday. It is believed the calf had damaged the wing mirror of the man's green Vauxhall Corsa before he took action... Around 500 cattle roam Minchinhampton and Rodborough commons and six have so far been killed this season.
