We've had a couple of these in recent weeks, i.e. Becky and The Fat Bigot.
I also remember Pommygranate, who did another half-a-dozen posts after that but appears to have packed it in for good in January 2008; Newmania, whose two most recent farewell posts are here and here; Elliot Joseph, who has been on a Sabbatical since, er, April 2008; John East, who allowed himself one more test-post since this in August 2008; and The Daily Brute, who posted his farewell in October 2008.
Most radical of all was Harry Haddock aka Nation Of Shopkeepers, who did a farewell post titled 'The Recession Bytes' and then deleted his whole 'blog.
Am I just morbid, or do other people have favourite "farewell posts" as well?

I'll admit to being somewhat concerend about the sudden farewell from the Fat Bigot... He'd been quite ill and it sets one to wondering.
I, for one, will miss his beautifully written "opines".
Pogo, seconded.
Fear not, loyal fans. I have posted an explanation.
TFB,
Just be a "comment blogger" like me.
MW,
I'm thinking about money AKA temporal reciprocation etc...
Another esoteric post soon.
Well it's certainly good to know that Mr Bigot is OK. Real shame he's not blogging anymore, the blogosphere needs people with his brains, wit and good sense.
As above, TFB will be missed.
If you're reading this,
Thank YOU and goodbye.
I wish you well.
