Why? Just Why?

Phil Woolas (y'know, the immigration minister) has spoken out after it was revealed that foreign criminals have won £500,000 compensation for being kept in prison past their release date (usually about 2 weeks after they were sent there).

He said, "We do not apologise for our tough system, but where the courts tell us that we have detained a criminal for too long, we are bound to accept their decision.” 'Tough system'? 'Tough system'!? What kind of 'tough system' sends an Islamic radical such as Abu Qatada to jail for life then bails him out on home arrest whilst letting him roam the streets for two hours a day!? What kind of 'tough system' keeps him on benefits (not my money yet, thankfully) whilst he is wanted in Belgium, Algeria, Spain, France, Germany, Jordan, Italy and the United States, and preaches for the destruction of the very system that is keeping him alive!?

Why can't we bring back the death penalty for scum like this and fry him before he turns more of our own people against us?

Do you mean Abu Quatada? Or Phil Woolas?

Got to say, I'm happy with either..

Letter to a Madrassa.
Hey Uncle Ali, guess what ? Tell our brothers when they get into England don't bother to look for work, just do some crime and stuff. They lock you up all warm and comfey with free telly and prayer mats and everything then give you reward money when you get released.

X Shazad.

I don't agree with electrocution. I think we should blow him up, after a countdown of course.

"OK Abu. Ready now?" "Good oh". "Now then, from the top...10, 9, 8, 7....."

(To be really accurate you should put in acouple of misfires. All corrected by those ever so polite civil servnats. "Look, we really are most terribly sorry abut this". It's maintenance y'see". They've been telling us that there was a problem with wiring, but worry Sir, we'll soon have it fixed and you'll be on your way to...well everywhere I suppose". "Now then, that ,looks like it's got it, so let's try again".)

"and fry him"

No no no. Being a traditionalist, I'm quite happy to use the rope. Or hanging drawing and quartering. Pour encourager les autres, don't you know.

Very droll,

Frying is far too good for them. A slow rolling boil and then fed to pigs would be much more appropriate.

I personally do not approve of death penalty, but I fully approve of sending foreign crim's back abroad again.

And if they get sent to a country has all manner of cruel and unusual punishments, that's not really my problem, is it?

Hang on, there's a consensus round these parts for *executing people* for *saying bad stuff*? And yet you regard the *current* government as the Orwellian thoughtcrime enforcers?

Sheesh. Thought this was supposed to be a libertarian blog, not a crazy-Melanie-Phillips-worshipping-nutters blog...

& yes, deporting foreign criminals is absolutely right, but keeping them in jail after their sentence is over and they're free men (even if it's only an extra two weeks) because we're too inept to actually arrange deporting them is *wrong*, just as locking anyone else up for a fortnight without charge or even suspicion of a crime would be wrong.

@ John B, that was a guest post by JP just to liven things up!!

Got that, but the comment box was worryingly pro.

That damned free speech, eh...?

"criticising what other people say" != "wanting other people executed for what they say".

You're extremely literal, aren't you? Are you extraordinarily suggestible too?
