Sticks both hands in the air!

Back to the old 'democracy, but only if I agree' bullshit.

Yes, my very first thought on hearing this story was "the BNP will love this"

The Righteous won't stop prodding the sleeping tiger of the UK electorate.

For God sake, we're fast approaching the "Post democratic era" as Mandelson once infamously espoused.
One would imagine that this will score yet more brownie points among certain sections of the British electorate, in regards to the myth that surrounds the B.N.P. as being beaten down underdogs, and so I would question why New Labour apparatchiks can't see that point as well.
Then again, Iv long since come to the conclusion that there really isn't much difference between the B.N.P. hierarchy, and certain elements of this ruling regime.

The left wing Socialists hate the right wing Socialists, and vice versa.

I suppose this is an attempt to appear oh-so-righteous to their fellow travellers on the left but, as you say, to suborn the impartial civil service in this way is both disgraceful and sure to backfire.

Have the tories responded yet, will they abstain in sympathy for their fellow democratically elected MEPs ?
