Recent headlines may have led us to believe that the Labour government is seriously considering halting, or at least slowing, the rate of growth of The State; and that The Tories are seriously considering reversing it.
More fool us.
From page 6 of today's Metro, (e-edition here):
Tens of thousands of new jobs are being created as part of a £1 billion programme to get young people into work. Some 200 councils and community groups are recruiting for posts ranging from environmental officers to sports coaches this autumn.
"Young people are more heavily affected by the recession because employers delay recruiting new people." work and pensions secretary Yvette Cooper told Metro. The Treasury pays employers £6,000 for each job created under new stimulus rules.

When I visited the former Soviet Union you had to queue for a table at a half empty 'restaurant' before being ordered by one person to the table of his choosing. You then presented your cash to a second person in a booth who took your order and gave you a token.
You took this token to a second booth where they took it acceptance of your order.
A forth or more persons later delivered yoor food to you.
This I was discretley told was Job Creation, Soviet style.
This is part of Yvette's made up jobs program that she discussed on Radio5 a while ago??
B, exactly.
CFF, almost certainly. Only instead of "losing a generation to unemployment", this time we'll be "losing a generation to the quangocracy".
mal-employment is worse than unemployment.
The unemployed are ready to work.
The mal-employed are not looking for work.
