If you eat meat you will die a horrible, lingering death ...

... says a study funded by Cancer Research UK.

You'd expect CRUK to be a fakecharity by now, given how righteous they have become, but I have scrutinised their 2008 accounts and although they bristle with mentions of 'partnerships' with the Department of Health, universities and other quangoes and fakecharities (notably ASH), there's no evidence that CRUK receives major funding from the government.

Yet.

The last time I checked their accounts (2006) they had an income of around £400 million. Of this they spent £0.89p from each donated £1.00 on themselves, and just £0.11p on research.

If they spent £300 million a year on finding cures we may have uncovered one (or several) by now.

They may not qualify for "Fake charity" status, but I think they win gold for being the greediest bastards of them all.

They also have around £100 million invested in stocks and shares. The next time a chugger comes at me brandishing a CRUK tin, I am going to punch him/her in the face.

As long as they have a vast fortune invested, they don't need my cash.

There, I've said it.

CR, to be fair, according to their accounts they spent £333 million on research (how much of it medical and how much on fakestatistics, I do not know) but OTOH thay have about £350 million tucked away in cash and investments.
