I love a good conspiracy theory

Fausty, among others no doubt, has linked to this short clip, which clearly appears to show that the host (David Dimbleby) of a programme on a state-controlled TV station interrupts opposition MP (Iain Duncan Smith) on the orders of a government Minister (Harriet Harman).

Being of a suspicious nature, I did wonder whether it was just clever editing by some cunning YouTube conspiracist, so I watched the full-length broadcast on the BBC's iPlayer, and that is, in fact, exactly what happened (fast forward to 14 minutes 14 seconds).

Being fair though, if you start a few seconds earlier (at about 14 minutes 0 seconds), David Dimbleby cuts off Harriet Harman in mid waffle to give Iain Duncan Smith a chance to speak, and Iain Duncan Smith does manage to finish off what he wanted to say, despite the best efforts of the host to shout him down.

You're quite right to check it on iPlayer Mark, that is exactly what I did, several times, to make sure that I wasn't seeing things.

If one was being generous you could say that Bumblebee is trying to wave Harperson away, rather than trying to prevent her making anymore gestures on camera, but there is no escaping the fact that she is definitely trying to get the host to act in her favour.

Fair play to IDS though for pressing on regardless and, as Dick Puddlecote says in the comments over at my place, "Robin Day would have given IDS another minute just for Harman's cheek in trying to boss him about".

Conspiracy theories. Doncha just love 'em, eh ;-)

GOT, to me it looks very much as if DD signals to HH that he is going to interrupt IDS, but that she'd bloody well better stop making it so obvious that he is doing it at her behest.

I still can't believe that someone at the BBC didn't spot it and have it removed from the iPlayer version.

Incidentally, wouldn't it be great to have heard what the Gallery Director was shouting in David's earpiece at that very moment . . . .

I cocked an eyebrow at the time when i was watching QT. Dimbleby isn't a great anchor imo. Too often he allows waffling nonentities to go on vomiting meaningless platitutes for minutes on end while also cutting off panelists in the middle of a (comparatively) cogent contribution.

Mark,

As I was the "editor" of the featured BBC clip, I can reveal that it wasn't done for conspiracy purposes. It was about payback for the last twelve Years of BBC misinformation.

The next time this government dig themselves into another self inflicted hole, (which will be any day soon no doubt) please watch the news coverage from all of the differing vantage points available.
I.T.V. and Sky will report the news in a fairly balanced manner. The BBC on the other hand, will attempt damage limitation from instance one, and drop the story "dead" at the first given opportunity.

The Guardian, the BBC and New Labour.

These days, and like a lot of other people, I'm playing by their own distorted rules of engagement, and it's very misleading to say the least.

D&C, you did well to spot it and track it down, but a) surely we all know that the BBC have a strong bias and b) your edit doesn't show DD interrupting HH a few seconds earlier.

OFF TOPIC:

Apparently Prescott is outraged that the Daily Express has been tapping his mobile phones - along with all the other Polls.

Well, You know?

If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.

If you approve of routine wire tapping of mobile phone communications, and email traffic, then it would be a surprise to find that you objected to your own phone and emails being snooped on, wouldn't it?

Mark,

You seem to be of the assumption that everybody in Britain is fully aware that the BBC are biased.

They're not.

Yesterday, I showed my "doctored footage" to one or two people who ordinarily steer well clear of the political Internet, and I noticed a warm glow surrounding their reignited craniums, as a "urika" moment came to pass.

I missed out the rebuke from Dimbleby to Harman on purpose, as it seems to me that the more uneven things look, the more the message that your attempting to sell hits the mark.

Something the BBC themselves have been guilty of for many a Year, playing in the politically correct gutter and all.

Just look at the Comment is Free page and then listen to Radio 4 or watch BBC2 and see how many Guardian writers are also on the BBC.

For a newspaper with less than 1 in 8 of all quality sales, they are massively overrepresented on the BBC.

The Guardian and the bbc have now conspired to take this venal government's dirty washing off the air by giving us another scandal that they hope will implicated Cameron or at least force his to sack the old editor of the News of the World.
Listen to the odious Caroline Quinn on radio 4 PM show today to hear the full bias.

Mark,

I wish that everyone did realise how outrageously biased the BBC are. The reality is that they don't. Alas.
