I'd forgotten all about our merry adventures over at EarthHour until Dick P linked to it. Having tracked back, for old times' sake, I am pleased to advise that not only is my comment still there, to wit:
Apparently some people flush their empty [toilet] rolls down the toilet and dolphins in the sewage works choke on them.
but so is the reply by "Kevin":
Do people really flush rolls? Is that possible?
Heck knows how he managed to type that with a straight face.
Elevate their cause?

All joking aside, I'm amazed some eco-nut hasn't spoken out against the use of toilet paper and its impact on the enviryawnment.
I dread to think what will be trotted out as the new eco-friendly alternative to bog rolls after hearing about mooncups...
Are their friends the tuna at the sewage works too?
TOILET PAPER IS WORSE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT THAN DRIVING A HUMVEE.

SS, I wasn't joking as I don't have a sense of humour, but yes they have, see BQ's comment.
D, nope, the tuna are all ensnared in plastic bags, or they've choked on discarded nuclear weapons or something.
BQ, genius, did you look that up or have you had it up your sleeve for a while?
In Asialand most of the houses have small hand held pressurised water sprays built into the plumbing alongside the toilet ceramics. A quick splash is all that is needed to clean up. Much more hygienic and cheaper than using bogroll. Keeps the dolphins away too.
Ahh, how quickly people forget Sheryl Crow's big idea for conserving toilet paper...
Or Drew Barrymore taking a shit in the woods on MTV and describing the experience as awesome. She was helping out around an impoverished Central American village. I bet those folks wouldn't have minded the use of her Beverley Hills (or wherever) bathroom which probs cost more than the entire village to which (natch) she returned.
Deluded patronising cow.
and to think ET told her to "be Good"!
BQ: A tree-hugging green-queen of my acquaintance tells me the least worst is unbleached recyled; anything else is anathema.
While we're on the subject, I've always cherished the story of the Russian visitor to the UK who stood, entranced, before a supermarket display of multicoloured rolls and declared,
"Now I know the West is decadent!"
Much more on the subject, including a hair-raising account of earth-closet updraughts, at href=http://home.wlv.ac.uk/~le1958/t2.htm.
