From the BBC:
Germany's Constitutional Court has ruled that the EU's Lisbon Treaty is compatible with German law - but has suspended ratification of it...
And why, pray tell?
... The court said extra national legislation was needed to ensure that the German parliament participated fully in adopting EU laws.
Surely, if they have to amend German domestic law first, then the Lisbon Treaty is not compatible with existing German domestic law?

Errr, Mark, since when was logic part of the EU march towards federalisation?
To question is to show your xenphobic, evil nationalist ways. You just want to take us back to the days of European tribalism and constant wars and the vile Anglo-Saxon creed of free trade.
The EU project is about love, peace and harmony. Stuff freedom, democacy and all that bollocks about the rule of law.
All stand now for Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy' played by a German oompah band.
Gregg, I'll have no gratuitous Jerry-bashing on this 'blog, especially seeing as 77% of them would like to have a referendum on The Lisbon Treaty.
The German ruling elite love the EU because it gives them more power as a nation than their constitution would otherwise allow.
Stan, there might be half a dozen 'top' German politicians who think like that, but most Germans know that their own government has been selling them out for the benefit of France for decades.
Germans on the whole, and a few neo-Nazis aside, are a peaceful lot who are proud of their economic and social record, and apart from that just want their peace and quiet to moan about the knee-injury they suffered on their last ski-ing holiday.
