Angels & Demons

We finally went to see this film today, and I must say I was bitterly disappointed. According to all the reviews, it is supposed to be even worse than "The Da Vinci Code" (which was truly awful, which is a good start).

So there I was, all ready for a Catwoman style experience, but nope - the film is Actually Quite Good, I mean, Not Brilliant Or Anything but Thoroughly Enjoyable nonetheless, with a cracking sub-plot or two.

Best scene - all the cardinals having a final cigarette and making a last mobile 'phone call before they have to turn in cigarettes and mobiles before entering the enclave.

Other plus points, no nudity, romantic interest, gratuitous violence (well, apart from all the shooting and that cardinal that gets burned alive, tee hee) or swearing. Low points - not being excruciatingly awful.

"Other plus points, no nudity, romantic interest, gratuitous violence".

Those don't sound like plus points to me.

Denise van Outen once said she would n't take her clothes off in a film unless it was completely gratuitous and irrelevant to the plot. This seems like the right attitude.
BTW you can envisage a conspiracy film in which a secret organisation which has permeated all the political parties ,the press and the universities, plots ,with secret handshakes and coded messages to stay in power for ever by twisting the entire economy to keep up house prices.
Can you think of any obvious members of this cult?Of course not, that's why they're so deadly.

If that's the best scene in what is suppossed to be a murder/ mystery/conspiracy sort of film then i'll give it a miss all the same

DBC, I'd definitely put MPs with second and third homes in the cult and possibly some people who work for banks. But most of the work is done for them by idiots.
