I heard someone describing what she did as "political suicide", as though being a pal of Brown is going to be of any value in a year's time when he and Captain Darling are out of a job.

Getting promoted in the Brown cabinet now is like being offered a lift on the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.

BTW Am I alone in thinking that amongst female labour MPs that she's towards the more attractive end of things? It's not that much of a compliment considering that most of them have faces like a bulldog that ran into a wall, but even so...
