"Post ban man to be UKIP candidate"

Via RR, this article at the BBC.

It seems strange that they are allowed to change candidates so late before the elections, having gone through an elaborate selection/election process, but hey.

Mr Kumarasiri, you rock!

Good luck to him. Man's clearly not afraid of hard work (being a Postmaster is no walk in the park).

Lets hope he is not corrupted by the MEP gravy train.

What makes you think the selection process is democratic on the inside. The inner circle always get who they want. Its how "The Party" works, not just as in communist Russia

RS, UKIP's candidate selection process is in fact completely grass-roots up open and democratic.

My priorities will be to save the pound and push for British jobs for British workers.

Ahhh, good ole' UKIP. Pretending to be libetrarians, really full of protectionist little shits.

But we all knew that, eh?

Anon, thanks for that very valuable and helpful contribution to the debate!!

The initial selection of candidates is a vote by all party members for that region.

At this late date it is still possible for new candidates to be parachuted into hte list by the central party.

However, and this is the kicker, everyone below the new candidate must agree to their entry to the list.
