The previous poll showed that people preferred a do nothing policy by a huge margin, in other words, what the Labour government thinks is cunning vote buying is actually a turning us away in droves. So I followed it up by asking, "Why are thirty per cent of people likely to vote Labour?"
The most likely explanation appears to be that Twenty five per cent of people are employed by The State (80% of the votes cast)*. In distant second was "The Tories would be just as bad (10%)" and also-rans were "Falling educational standards (7%)"; "Two trillion pounds of public sector debt (2%)"; "Uncontrolled mass immigration (1%)"; "The Credit Crunch (1%)"; and finally "Rapidly increasing unemployment (0%)".
I hope I didn't miss of Labour's main achievements off that list. I don't think that pissing away over £10 billion on the 2013 Olympics really matters in the grander scheme of things.
* I don't believe for one second that Dave Cameron's Tories will reduce the size of the public sector significantly, but they will certainly chuck out a lot of Labour quangista and install their own placemen and -women, that's what public sector employees are scared of.
Inspired by one of DBC Reed's comments, this week's Fun Online Poll is Now we've seen what happens when a house price-cum-credit bubble bursts, what's the worst kind of inflation?

Mark,
I did think of the 'euronating' alternative choice but did not wish to 'water down' your options!
Also, all Dc will do is replace Brown's quangistas with Cameron's quangistas!
Cameron has about as much idea of government as has (not) Brown
Primum non nocere
"I don't think that pissing away over £10 billion on the 2013 Olympics really matters..."
Mmmm, are you waiting for someone to pick you up on the 2013 thing? Or is that your estimate for when London will be ready to begin the Games? ;-)
By the way, the £10 billion is massively under estimated in my opinion. The Beeb tonight is already playing up the required extra security needed after that Lahore business yesterday. Not only will we have to protect the Olympic Stadium and Village (ermmm tented city) but every traffic island too by all accounts. Damn pesky terrorists changing their targets!
JP, had they stuck to their original estimate of £3 billion, I'd count that as good value, as it includes a new Eurostar terminal and other bits and pieces.
Piss away £10 billion on top gets us to £13 billion (by when will we hit that estimate, if we haven't done so already?). Bearing in mind that Dave's Tories will be in power by 2013, not even they can waste more than £1 billion on two weeks' worth of extra security ... can they?
Either way, that £10 billion one-off boot-filling exercise pales into insignificance compared to the £100 billion per annum that Labour have been pissing away for the last decade or so.
