'Foreign Secretary talks sense' shock!

You get so inured to the fact that politicians are either lying or spouting meaningless drivel, or possibly both at the same time, that it is a pleasant surprise when one of them actually says something halfway sensible, for example The Millipede has said (or will say):

"We should expose [the Islamists'] claim to a compelling and overarching explanation and narrative as the lie that it is. Terrorism is a deadly tactic, not an institution or an ideology."

From an article headlined Miliband: War on terror was a mistake

In other news: "Ageing Nazi: We may have got a bit carried away"

The war on Terrorism is short for The War on Terrorism supporting/Exporting Countries.

It's a pity that pakistan wasn't put on the list as the ISI is the biggest one of them all.

He's probably been told to talk sense' just this once' by Mandleson, for some devious spin reason no doubt.

"The more we lump terrorist groups together and draw the battle lines as a simple binary struggle between moderates and extremists or good and evil, the more we play into the hands of those seeking to unify groups with little in common."

Except for Islam: an intolerant, imperialist, anti-Semitic, dehumanising ideology that was founded by a child-molesting warlord.

As Melanie Phillips points out here...

...local issues/nationalism are pretty much hooks to hang their hate/attack/enslave or kill everyone else beliefs.

Islamism is like communism; picking up troubles, real or imagined, that the world leaves around and forging them into weapons to attack the free world.

Where communism has: race/racism; sex/sexism; the separatists of small countries or regions plus how awful family/religion/portraits of people and pictures of landscapes/making hamburgers are, the Islamists sometimes disguise their world-absorbing plans behind these regional 'nationalist' struggles or problems, or invent them in the case of a Palestinian people to whom the never referred before the Arab world's defeat in the 1967 war.

The Moslems of 'Palestine' and Kashmir aren't going to leave us alone if they get local or national government. They are against us because we're not Moslems and their faith has been based on military expansion since its inception [give or take a few early years or so before the Meccans sussed how vile Mohammed was to have around.]

Mister Milliband is wrong. On the contrary, he is to clear-eyed observation of the world and steely-minded reasoning about its workings what Luciano Pavarotti was to the isometric bars

...and better jobs, housing, and western authorities recognising 'Moslem sensitivities' isn't going to change the fact that Islam teaches them that they're right, and that everyone and everything else is wrong and abominable.

It saddens me that sometimes people or the Right and libertarians, who believe some pretty powerful stuff after only two centuries of American democracy and a few decades of western-style freedoms with high living standards can't recognise that other people can really, really believe other stuff - vile and murderous and genocidal stuff - too.

In the case of the Left, I can see why they line up with Hamas and Hezbollah; them being anti-Israel and therefore anti-American and all, but we're the good guys; we're supposed to be the clever ones.

Mister Milliband is not clever.
If willful stupidity was seen as a terrorist act, the Israelis would have had to build a massive wall around him long ago.
