Where to begin - if its unstoppable, why bother trying to stop it? What is 'normal'? In the history of planet earth, 'normal' is being in an Ice Age I think. What we are in now is abnormal. Anyway a 1000 years is nothing in earth time, a mere blink of an eye.
"Where have I heard that before ..?"
And wasn't the head man of that regime a noted vegetarian and all-round greenie?

Rubbish... a scientist bloke I know down the Pub says it will only last for 977.38 years. Give or take 5 minutes.
Oil will never 'run out', it will just get more and more expensive. But 977.38 years seems as good a guess as any.
You're going to have to stop reading that paper Mr W, it can't be doing your blood pressure any good.
We ran out of stone at the end of the stone age.
Mark, oil will run out one day because it takes millions of years to make and only seconds to burn.
Your argument is disingenuous as you are referring to oil exploration. Coal mines and quarries do not last for ever either!
