I'll tell you something about debt collection agencies - I have had a run in with several in the matter of excess bank charges recovery. You would not believe as to (a) how useless they are and (b) how they all descend to theatening tactics of the most unpleasant kind and (c) they never listen. Eventually I refused to take calls from them and instructed the clients to refuse to answer any questions but to refer them to me and hang the 'phone up. The problem for the client's being that the bank just sticks a default note on the clients credit history even though the alledged debt to the bank is less than the illegal (a bit debateable I know) charges debited to their accounts.
There really must be a better way of resolving small sum consumer credit / bank charges disputes than this?
