Dull reading. Must be some tales of highwaymen or raunchy dames or something to begin with to draw the reader in. The pity is that those that know the most about the history of places are normally so fascinated by minutiae that they miss out the bombast that excites.
Come come, there is proud mention of the sewage farm and an oversized church. If only everywhere could boast as much.
You missed the exciting bits - first a hospital , then another, then a fire engine - and - and - the firestation catches fire. Such drama.
Well maybe you had to be there at the time.
Oh, I don't know! The old 'hanging tree' could come in useful again one day...
