Now that Damian Green knows what it's like to be the victim of politically motivated police-state thuggery of questionable legality, should we expect him to ask the Home Secretary to relinquish these powers once the Tories are in government?

Things are much simpler than this. Tony Benn says that what has happened is "a contempt of Parliament". The interviewer on World at One today was unfortunately unable to comprehend the import of what was being said.
The cynic in me would be asking why it happened when all media attention is on the situation in India.
